Every birth is unique, as is the journey into Motherhood. Each woman will have clear, heart driven preferences for her ideal birth and so will you, even if these are still emerging and formulating. As a doula it is my genuine desire and my role to listen to women, hear what they say, and work with them to best support their birthing journey as they move closer to meeting their baby.

Entwining my knowledge of yoga for pregnancy, active birth practices and dance movement, I can offer a deeply feminine and physical approach to birth preparation alongside discussion, education, sharing ideas and resources.

Sometimes partners feel concerned that the presence of a doula may leave them without a role. In this instance may I offer reassurance that your role will remain as close to the woman you are there to support as you and she wish it to be. I can help prepare you by offering different techniques, positions and practical suggestions you may like to use during labour as well as supporting you to voice your partner’s wishes when she is in strong labour.

A doula is a deeply supportive presence in the birthing space – I would be there to keep your space safe and comfortable, to quietly believe in your ability to give birth, and support you through kind words, touch/massage, tending to your physical comfort and offering suggestions around positioning or movement if needed. I would ensure your partner is able to eat, drink and take a break when needed. I will listen to what is happening in the room and sense when to melt away into the background to give you space, and when to be by your side holding your hand. I can advocate for you, build positive relationships with midwives and any other staff, and support you in your decision making processes.

I am not a midwife and I am not medically trained. I will never offer clinical advice or diagnosis. I am entirely present to believe in you and your ability to have a beautiful, loving birth.

My Service To You

Supporting Mother and Baby to remain at the centre of the birthing process,

I will meet you with an open mind and an open heart.

  • An initial free no-obligation meeting between us to find out if we are 'right' for each other - if not I can recommend other doulas for you to meet, or if everyone feels happy we'll sleep on it and then make an agreement!

  • A minimum of 2 Prenatal Meetings: Each woman will seek something slightly different during her preparation for Birth and Motherhood, so each meeting will very much be a response to your needs and can include aspects such as: an exploration of your birth wishes and preferences, Active Birth approaches for you and your birth partner, debriefing any previous birth experiences, Birth Education, sourcing/signposting information to support your decision making, dance for pregnancy and birth principals, relaxation and bringing focus to your body.... Sessions can be as discussion-based, physical, creative, active or relaxed as you wish them to be and are held in the comfort of your own home.

  • On-Call for Labour & Birth - I go on-call for you two weeks before your estimated due date, until two weeks after this date. I will be with you from the moment you wish me to arrive during labour, until your baby is born and you are happy for me to leave. If your birth partner needs a break to eat or rest during your labour I will stay with you. Once your baby has arrived I will help to tidy and ensure you are all comfortable and cosy before leaving you to bond as a family and cuddle with your new baby.

  • One or two postnatal visits to talk through your birth experiences, support your feeding choices and early journey into motherhood and parenthood.

  • Travel to your home and place of birth.

  • Phone and email support.

  • On call for you alone from 38-42 weeks.

  • If you would like to arrange extra pre or postnatal sessions to cover something in more detail (for example a private Dance or Yoga for Pregnancy session; further debriefing of previous experiences; extra support or preparation etc) these sessions can be arranged separately and will be priced separately.

  • I am happy to support you for Home Birth; VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean section); Birth Centre; Hospital Birth; Scheduled C-Section or birth somewhere else!
