Hello, I'm Rhiana

It is a pleasure to welcome you here and share a little about my background...

As a Dance Artist I have spent the last 19 years devising Contemporary Dance projects and performances for people facing difficult life challenges. After the birth of my daughter in 2015 I was left with a lot of questions and a genuine thirst for deeper knowledge about pregnancy and birth. Driven to answer these questions I realised how profoundly and deeply birth touches women, and could hear this resounding loudly as I spoke with other women exploring their own birth stories.

I was accepted onto the 18 month Birth Educators Course at the Pregnancy & Parent’s Centre (PPC) in Edinburgh, and Graduated in January 2018. A Birth Educator facilitates learning, preparation for birth, and access to evidence-based information with a view to support parents-to-be to feel confident, knowledgeable and well informed. I trained as a Birth Doula with Conscious Birthing in 2017.

I teach Yoga for Pregnancy at the PPC, and as a independent dance artist/birth educator I am exploring blending elements of yoga for pregnancy, dance movement and relaxation together to create a deeply feminine, gently physical session to prepare for the 'un-doing', opening and letting go that birth requires.

Love:  waking up to a blue sky and sunshine, trail running, hot baths, sharing food with good friends, jumping in rivers, cuddles and face paints with my little girl, theatre and creativity.

Personality words: positive, enthusiasm, energy, attentive listener, clear communication, light hearted, expressive, sensitive, happy.
